Use the assistance details for your rental
Look in the rental agreement, confirmation email or official rental app for the relevant roadside contact. Use the details for the company and country on your agreement, rather than a phone number copied from an unrelated rental listing.
Enterprise's published roadside instructions direct renters to the assistance details in the rental agreement and describe an in-app roadside option for lockouts. Your rental provider may use a different process. Explain where you are, which vehicle you have and whether the key is visible inside, in the trunk or missing.
A person in immediate danger takes priority over rental administration. Call emergency services in an emergency. NHTSA specifically advises immediate action and calling 911 when a child is alone in a locked car.
Check the payment terms for this incident
Roadside assistance being available does not automatically mean the incident is free. Hertz, for example, distinguishes its basic mechanical roadside service from optional protection for certain non-mechanical incidents, including keys locked in the car. This illustrates why the protection selected on your own agreement matters.
Ask whether a charge will be added to the rental account or paid directly, whether any purchased protection applies and whether an independent service requires prior approval for reimbursement. Request the answer for your agreement; another renter's experience may involve different terms.
Keep the rental company informed
Tell the provider if access is restored before it arrives. If the car is opened but the key still cannot be found, update the rental company before authorizing additional work. A successful unlock does not close an unresolved lost-key incident.
Keep the receipt and any instructions about returning the vehicle or key. If the rental company authorizes you to contact Locksmith 904 in Jacksonville, state that it is a rental at the start of the call. The team can check the vehicle, authorization arrangement and service scope before confirming a visit.
