Describe the last part of the journey
For a house, confirm the street number and where the vehicle is parked. At an apartment complex, shopping center or parking garage, add the entrance, building, level and parking section. A map pin is useful, but check that it points to the car rather than the property's main office.
AAA's roadside request guidance asks for an address, nearby intersection, vehicle details and a description of the problem. The same basic information is useful when arranging an independent mobile visit. For a large parking area, add a landmark you can see without walking into traffic.
Tell the team if your phone's location is different from the vehicle's location. You might be waiting inside a nearby business or arranging help for someone else. Identify who will meet the technician, which number reaches that person and how they will recognize the vehicle.
Mention anything that affects access to the car
A mobile appointment depends on reaching the vehicle and having a suitable place to assess it. Do not assume every garage, roadside position or restricted lot can accommodate the proposed work. Describe the conditions before the team commits to a visit.
For controlled properties, check with the person responsible for access rather than telling the technician to follow another vehicle through a gate. If the location is exposed to moving traffic, explain that immediately and follow the relevant roadside or emergency guidance. You do not need to stand beside the car to mark its position.
- A gate, staffed entrance or appointment requirement for visitors.
- A garage height restriction or an entrance that differs from the street address.
- A tight parking space, blocked side of the vehicle or other access limitation.
- A parking deadline or a property contact who must approve the visit.
Keep the plan current while you wait
Keep your callback phone available and tell the team if you move to another waiting area. Ask for the current arrival estimate and what to do if you must leave. An estimate should help you plan; it is not a reason to remain somewhere unsafe.
Update the job description if anything changes. A spare may arrive, a missing key may be found, or you may discover that the car opens but will not start. Those changes can alter the work needed. If another provider is already coming, resolve that booking before authorizing a second visit.
For replacement or programming work, set aside the existing keys you have agreed to bring and describe any customer-supplied part in advance.
